Thursday This and that

Hi Everybody!

This week is flying by again. We are still having
unseasonably hot weather, so I'm busy trying
to keep cool.

I got this little book-box given to me some time back, and have
now altered it. I gave it a layer of crumpled tissue, pushed into folds with my fingers, and then let it dry. I painted it with white gesso, and then
covered it with napkins, inside and out. When it was dry I added more
colour with gelatos smoothed with a baby-wipe. I gave the box
edges 2 coats of cream acrylic paint. I gave the whole thing
I coat of matte medium to finish it.

Then I made a little book out of canvas, also painted and covered with
the same napkin. It fits inside the box.

Artistic Inspirations, anything goes

Some days started off stormy:

I enjoyed looking for shady places:

The arch is crooked, not the photo:

Mr Heron was out fishing again:

The pollen from the poplars made it look like it was snowing:

Lots of hungry visitors again:

The pigeons are once again very hungry:

This one enjoys sitting in the tree outside my bedroom window:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. Amazing ideas on the stunning box and then to add a little book inside as well just topped it all for me. You have such fantastic ideas Valerie.

Show stopping photographs today as well. I got as far as the hanging pink roses and stopped, Than the pollen that looked like snow, but your peeping pigeon takes the prize for me today. Thank you for sharing all of them

    Love Chrissie xx

  6. I think your book box and notepad are lovely, such gorgeous colours too.

Stunning selection of photographs today. I think my favourites are the pink roses, the one showing all that pollen (feel so sorry for all those who have hay fever) and the peeping pigeon is just brilliant!

Enjoy your day and all good wishes for the month of June.

    All the best Jan

  7. Your boxes are stunning Valerie as are your photos. I'm not looking forward to summer heat as we start June, although they say it will be a chilly one here.

  13. That box is out of this world. You put a LOT into it, and it shows. It's a beauty. And I look forward to your filling the handmade book up, too.

Really lovely photos today. Had to laugh about your comment about the arch. Those are some fat, well fed birds you feed. You should tell that first one to leave one of his blue feathers for you as payment for feeding him!

  15. I love this Valerie, especially how you've made a book to match the box. You must have a never ending supply of napkins lol. It's been very warm here too the last couple of days. Our birds are still demanding feeding too, I don't know what happened to finding their own worms lol xx
